Q: Do I need and appointment or can I just
come in?
A: Appointments are required for general illness or health
exams. Please call us at
425-486-9000 to make an
appointment. We also gladly handle
same-day urgent care or emergency
appointments. Please call our
office so we can be prepared upon
your arrival.
Q: Do you provide boarding?
A: YES! We have a newly expanded boarding
area on the same premises, but
completely separate from our
hospital area. We are happy to
board your exotic pets but do
require a recent health examination
(performed by one of our doctors in
the previous 12 months with no
significant changes in health
status.) We are also able to board
exotic animals needing special
medical care. Please call ahead for
reservations.
Q: How much is an appointment for my sick
animal going to cost?
A: Our initial examination fee is
currently $45.70. If you come
in for an emergency appointment
during or after business hours you
will also be charged an emergency
fee. During the initial exam
we will decide on the best course of
action for your pet's situation.
If your pet requires additional
testing or treatment we will provide
you with a written estimate of
expected charges. To the
extent possible we will work with
you to stay within your budget while
providing your pet with the best
care available.
Q: I found an injured wild animal. Can you
come to my house to pick it up?
A: Please first call PAWS wildlife hospital
in
Lynnwood
at 425-787-2500. If PAWS is unable
to take it in we may be able to
treat it at our hospital on a case
by case basis. We are not able to
come to your location to pick up
wildlife.
Q: It says a doctor is available 24 hours a
day for emergencies. How does that
work?
A: If your exotic pet is experiencing an after hours
emergency please call our office at
425-486-9000. Do not leave an after
hours emergency message on our
office voicemail. The office
voicemail message will give you the
phone number for the doctor on
call.
Q: You haven't seen my bird before, can I
bring it in just to have its wings
or nails clipped?
A: Many birds and other animals become stressed out while
having their wings or nails
clipped. Stress can be deadly for
unhealthy animals. Therefore, we
require a recent health examination
on file for each of our patients
before clipping their wings or
nails. Please call us for current
exam pricing and to schedule an
appointment.
Q: My bird has been fluffed and sitting on
the bottom of the cage for the last
few days. What is wrong with it?
A: It is not possible for us to diagnose an illness over
the phone. Many exotic animal
species hide their symptoms until
they are too sick to hide them
anymore. If your bird is visibly
sick then chances are it is very
sick. Please call us so we can
start treatment as soon as
possible.
